Ballymore Safety Products: A Legacy of Innovation
In 1945, John Colgan invented the first rolling safety ladder after noticing the dangers of wooden A-frame ladders in his frozen food store. His design featured handrails and spring-loaded casters that locked under weight, quickly gaining popularity with Iceberg franchisees and even local banks. As demand grew, Colgan sold his frozen food business and founded Ballymore in 1946, focusing entirely on ladder innovation. This marked the beginning of Ballymore’s legacy in workplace safety solutions.
