WHO ARE WE

Established in 1908, Herbert Williams Fire Protection was founded by Herbert Williams II as the first fire protection service provider in the history of the City of Toronto. The primary fire protection service then was the monthly servicing of water filled wall mounted fire buckets and the supply and repair of horse drawn pumper hoses. As years past the landscape of fire protection changed with the introduction of the very first water pump style fire extinguisher. In the mid 1920’s fire extinguisher evolved into the self pressurizing soda acid foam, and then eventually to Co2 and stored pressure dry chemical similar to what are both still used today. After the late 1930’s base building standpipe systems and fire sprinkler systems were introduced and along with them early warning fire alarm systems, pre-action sprinklers systems, and restaurant suppression systems in the early 1960’s. As you can see fire protection has evolved since Herbert Williams company's inception and the needs of their customers have evolved along with it. Today we are very proud of their heritage and their ability to keep pace with the continuing advancements in fire protection technology.
